Wellness Retreat Provence — Immersive Programmes in the Heart of the South

Aura Provence designs exclusive wellness retreats in Provence for corporate groups, incentive travel programmes and private groups seeking a deeply restorative experience in one of Europe's most nourishing natural environments.
Why Provence is the Ideal Setting for a Wellness Retreat
The Provence region has been associated with wellbeing, spirituality and regeneration for millennia. Aix-en-Provence — a city founded by the Romans precisely for its thermal springs — has been a place of healing since antiquity. The Sainte-Baume massif, with its ancient sacred forest and mountain sanctuary, has been a site of pilgrimage and contemplation for over a thousand years. The lavender fields, olive groves and limestone garrigue of the interior Provence are among the most calming sensory environments in the world.
This is not an invented wellness destination. It is one of the oldest in Europe.
The combination of climate, light, gastronomy, biodiversity and cultural depth available within a 90-minute radius of Marseille has no real equivalent elsewhere in France. A single retreat can move from sunrise yoga at a hilltop bastide to a forest-bathing session in the Sainte-Baume, lunch at a great regional table, and an afternoon swim in a private calanque cove.
Our Wellness Retreat Programmes
Aura Provence offers wellness retreat programmes that combine movement, nature immersion, gastronomy and collective ritual. Depending on your group's profile and objectives, we can integrate sunrise yoga sessions overlooking the Provençal countryside, guided walks through the ancient forest of Sainte-Baume, private mindfulness workshops, sensory wine tastings conducted as meditative experiences, and personalised recovery sessions designed by our partner coaches and wellbeing facilitators.
For corporate wellness retreats, we can integrate short morning sessions on attention, recovery and team alignment, delivered by experienced facilitators from our local network. The combination of body-led practice and lightly-held cognitive content is what allows the experience to translate from the retreat itself back into office life.
Provençal Gastronomy as a Wellness Pillar
In Provence, eating well is not a luxury — it is a philosophy. Our wellness retreats integrate the Provençal culinary tradition as a core element of the programme: farm-to-table lunches at private estates, extra-virgin olive oil tastings from centuries-old groves, herb and plant workshops with local producers, and gastronomic dinners designed as genuine rituals of pleasure and reconnection.
The Provençal diet — heavy on vegetables, legumes, herbs, olive oil, fish, and modest amounts of wine, with very little red meat or refined sugar — is one of the most studied dietary patterns in the world and is consistently associated with longevity, cardiovascular health and cognitive resilience. A retreat that immerses participants in this way of eating for four or five days, prepared at the highest level by chefs who genuinely understand the tradition, is itself a meaningful intervention. The shift in energy, sleep quality and digestive comfort is consistently reported by participants by day three.
Sacred Sites & Nature Immersion
Some of the most distinctive wellness experiences we offer are connected to the sacred landscape of Provence. A guided visit to the Sainte-Baume grotto — where Mary Magdalene is said to have lived the last thirty years of her life — in complete silence and with a local spiritual guide, is often the moment that participants remember most. We also offer private access to the Sénanque Abbey, still inhabited by Cistercian monks, and meditative walks through the ochre cliffs of Roussillon.
For groups drawn to coastal nature immersion, we organise sunrise sailing in the bay of Marseille, paddleboard meditation in the calanques of Cassis, and slow walks along the discreet coastal path of the Côte Bleue. The combination of horizon, salt water and morning light produces a quality of attention that is exceptionally hard to engineer in any indoor setting.
A Typical Four-Night Wellness Programme
Day one — afternoon arrival, individual welcome, intention-setting circle, restorative dinner. Day two — sunrise yoga, breakfast, somatic workshop on stress and recovery, free time, lunch, afternoon Sainte-Baume forest walk in silence, dinner. Day three — sunrise meditation, breakfast, free morning with optional spa treatments, vineyard lunch with sensory wine tasting, afternoon group reflection, dinner. Day four — sunrise yoga, breakfast, calanques boat morning, lunch on board, afternoon free, closing ceremony dinner. Day five — morning yoga, brunch, reflection-and-departure circle, afternoon transfers. The exact rhythm is calibrated to the group, but this skeleton illustrates the deliberate alternation of effort and rest that underpins everything we design.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your wellness retreats exclusively for corporate groups?
No. We design wellness retreats for private groups of any composition: families, groups of friends, women's retreats, and couples' experiences. Corporate groups represent the majority of our retreats, but we are equally experienced in designing private wellness programmes.
Do you work with external wellness practitioners?
Yes. We have established partnerships with a curated network of yoga teachers, mindfulness coaches, kinesiologists, sophrologists and movement therapists based in Provence. All are vetted for both their professional expertise and their alignment with the values and aesthetic of our retreats.
How long should a wellness retreat last to be genuinely restorative?
We recommend a minimum of 3 nights. Two nights produces a pleasant break but rarely a deep reset. Four to five nights allows the nervous system to fully decelerate and produces the most sustained post-retreat benefits. Our most-requested format is a 4-night long weekend (Thursday to Monday).
What about dietary approach during a wellness retreat?
We design menus in collaboration with our clients and their facilitators. The default approach is plant-forward Provençal cuisine — local seasonal vegetables, olive oil, herbs, fish for those who eat it — with optional cleansing protocols (juice cleanses, intermittent fasting windows) where requested. Wine is included or excluded depending on the programme.
Where do your wellness retreats take place?
Our preferred wellness venues include the Set Club near Aix-en-Provence (a unique sport, wellness and business hotel), the Château de la Gaude (a classified monument with vineyards and gastronomic culture), restored mas in the Luberon and Alpilles, and a small selection of seafront properties between Cassis and Bandol. Every venue is bookable on full-buyout terms for genuine privacy.
Can you organise hammam, spa and beauty treatments as part of the programme?
Yes. We work with on-site and visiting practitioners offering deep-tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, hammam rituals, facials, sound baths, breathwork sessions and craniosacral therapy. Treatments are scheduled around the day's structured activities to create natural rhythms of effort and recovery.
