Private celebrations in Provence

Long dinner table dressed on a garden lawn under trees and string lights at dusk

Some birthdays deserve more than a restaurant. A milestone year, an anniversary, a family reuniting across three continents: Provence gives these occasions a setting people still talk about years later, and we give them an organiser who answers at midnight.

    Places you cannot simply book

The settings that make a celebration memorable are rarely on a booking platform. A vineyard privatised for the evening. A bastide taken for the weekend. A dinner on the water. A village square after the visitors have gone. A table set in a landscape with no address, reached by a track and a key from the owner.

These places open because their owners agree to open them, and owners agree because they know who is asking. We negotiate the privatisation, the licences and the logistics with owners we know: where the cars park, how late the music can play, where the kitchen sets up, how guests are brought in and taken home. It is agreed in writing before anyone sends an invitation.

Each kind of place asks for something different. An evening among the vines needs a kitchen brought in and light for the walk back. A dinner on the water depends on the sea and on a boat that can hold the table. A village square needs the goodwill of the village as much as the agreement of an owner. We tell you early what each option involves, so that the choice is made on more than a photograph.

    Built around your people

A celebration is a guest list before it is a venue. Arrivals from different countries are grouped into transfers, so that nobody waits alone at an airport and nobody has to work out how to reach the house. Rooms are planned for three generations: quiet for the grandparents, close to the parents for the children, a little further away for the friends who will come back late.

The programme holds everyone. Something for the children while the adults linger at the table, a gentler pace for the grandparents, and a moment for the friends who want to dance. From a table of ten to a party of a hundred and forty, the principle stays the same: every guest should feel the occasion was planned with them in mind.

Celebrations rarely last a single evening. Guests who have travelled far stay for several days, and the days around the party matter: a welcome drink on arrival, a slow lunch the day after, an outing for those who want one and a quiet pool for those who do not. We plan these days with the same care as the evening itself, so that the occasion feels like one continuous gathering rather than a party with travel on either side.

    The evening itself

A private chef or a caterer, depending on the setting and the number of guests. Wines chosen with the host beforehand, tasted and decided rather than left to chance. Musicians, a photographer, and lighting that turns a garden or a courtyard into a room. And a run sheet for the evening that the host never has to look at: arrivals, speeches, courses, music and departures, each with a time and a person responsible.

On the night, the host's only job is to be a guest at their own celebration. Our team handles the suppliers, the timings and the small surprises every evening brings, so that nobody needs to find the host to ask where the ice is or when the music should start.

The weather plan is agreed in advance, not improvised. If wind or rain threatens, the alternative space is already chosen and already prepared, and the moment to decide is agreed with the host beforehand. Guests experience a change of room, not a crisis.

    Discretion as a default

You have one contact from the first conversation to the last guest leaving. No names are published, and every supplier is briefed on privacy before the event, photographers included.

Discretion also means planning without fuss. We come back to you only when a decision is needed, and the guest list, the addresses and the details of the evening stay with the people who need them.

We plan celebrations for people who are used to things being handled — and for families doing something this ambitious for the first time.

A celebration often sits inside a longer stay, with villas or hotels, boats, excursions and daily transport arranged around the occasion; our page on luxury villas in Provence shows how a house becomes the base for the week. Tell us the occasion, the date and the number of guests through the form below or our contact page, and you will have a first proposal within 48 hours.

    Frequently asked questions

How far ahead should we start?

Four to nine months for a large celebration in high season. Intimate dinners can come together in weeks.

Can you organise the whole stay, not just the party?

Yes — villas or hotels, excursions, boats and daily transport around the celebration itself.

Do you handle events at a private villa we have rented ourselves?

Yes. We staff and run events in rented villas, including equipment, catering and sound, within local rules.

What budgets do celebrations in Provence start at?

It depends on the venue, the season and the number of guests. Tell us the occasion and the number of guests, and you will have a first proposal within 48 hours.
